ARTISTIC HANDMADE CERAMIC PRODUCTS

All Baepi products are hand-crafted and are thus subject to minor size and color variations. Below you will find directions and recommendations to a correct installation.

APPLICATION AREAS

In general, most tiles and accessories have been designed for horizontal (flooring) and vertical applications in internal areas. For floor applications, please refer to the superficial abrasion resistance (PEI) of each plain color.

COLOR SHADE VARIATIONS

Being hand crafted, Baepi tiles are subject to minor color shade variations from lot to lot. We recommend than an additional 10% should be ordered to all orders for eventual loss, cuts and future use. In case, additional tiles are required to existing installations please supply the factory with a piece of the original so we can match the order as close as possible.

NOMINAL SIZE, SIZE VARIATION & MINIMUM JOINT BETWEEN PIECES

All referred dimensions in this catalog are nominal. Real dimensions can vary slightly. Due to the manufacturing nature of Antigua tiles, all products will present a slight variation in size. This variation, along with other physical characteristics, requires the use of a minimum joint between pieces. The recommended joint thickness is 3 mm.

MOSAICS CONFIGURATION

All mosaic products come film mounted (transparent film over the top). In this case, the joints are already given and installation between sheets should keep the same distance. The installation process is the usual and the removing of the film should happen after the mortar is completely dry.

TIPS FOR A CORRECT INSTALLATION

• Do not install tiles under extreme conditions such as rain, freezing temperatures, excessive heat and strong winds.
• Before installing, make sure all pieces are free from dirt or any other particles.
• Use the correct cement mortar for the application.
• Avoid long exposure of mortar. The working time should never surpass 5 minutes.
• During installation, take out some random pieces an check whether their back is completely filled with mortar.

MAINTENANCE

Excess grout during installation of glazed tiles should be removed with a wet clean towel or sponge. Although no standard applies to edge impact, the best advice we can give remains to pay care ful attention to detail when grouting to ensure that all edges are afforded maximum protection. Do not acid wash glazed tiles. All foods and other substances containing acid may affect the color of a tile. Always clean spills as soon as possible. Cristalina colors are more subject to acid attack. All glazed surfaces are subject to some wearing or scratching over a period of time. Care should be taken to select the proper tile for a given use.
